freesaturday_email.jpgFour exciting wines geared for warmer weather and the changing menus and activities that we all look forward to and enjoy. New foods, fresh veggies, grilled meats, seafood and picnics figure into everyday summer life. Join Rick Bowman at the bar this Saturday for a look at four great wines for this seasonal change which has come with a rush this year.

2009 Weingut Steininger "Young"; Niederösterreich, Austria
A complex blend of 70% Grüner Veltliner, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, and 10% Muskateller, this wine features that great nose of ripe green and yellow fruits that kind of pulls you in to the medium-bodied palate of luscious fruit laced with peach, melon, pear, apple and quince flavors. Totally dry, refreshing and showing great purity and balance, this wine is an absolute screaming bargain. Check out the label- it features all the aromas and flavors. The 2009 is just unbelievably good - maybe best ever from here!
AWM Regular Price: $10.99 per bottle
Special Tasting Price: $9.89 per bottle or $8.79 by the case

2009 Viña Siegel Crucero Sauvignon Blanc; Curico Valley, Chile
This wine exhibits a pale straw color with golden highlights. Herb-laced lemon and lime aromas are complemented by mineral notes and subtle white pepper. Silky in texture, with tangy citrus and green apple flavors and a refreshing bitter grape skin edge. Finishes on a clinging note of orange, with good clarity and length. This is a real bargain for very high quality new world Sauvignon Blanc!
AWM Regular Price: $9.99 per bottle

Special Tasting Price: $8.99 per bottle or $7.99 by the case

2008 Réserve Grand Veneur Côtes du Rhone; Rhône Valley, France
This blend of 70% Grenache and 20% Syrah and the remainder Cinsault is a serious effort from a challenging vintage. The 2008 Côtes du Rhône is made in a soft, elegant style, with dried cherry and mineral notes framed by sandalwood and black tea hints. Raspberries, cherries, currants, spice box, and pepper are also represented in this medium to full bodied wine which ends with a long, supple finish that is stylish and persistent. A lovely summer red ideal for grilled foods.
AWM Regular Price: $14.99 per bottle
Special Tasting Price: $13.49 per bottle or $11.99 by the case

2007 Bodegas Olivares Altos de la Hoya Monastrell; Jumilla, Spain
Inky purple color. Strongly floral nose displays a seductive bouquet of dark berries, lavender, rose and smoky Indian spices. Vibrant blackberry and candied cherry flavors are lifted by zesty minerals, becoming deeper and sweeter with air. The impressively brisk and focused finish features pure berries. Here's another crazy value as this is the third vintage of this delicious red wine we have been able to get our hands on. From very old ungrafted vines grown at 2400 feet in the sandy soils, which lie over limestone bedrock, of Jumilla, this is delicious with grilled meat dishes.
AWM Regular Price: $12.99 per bottle
Special Tasting Price: $11.69 per bottle or $10.39 by the case

Special tasting prices: 10% off the bottle and 20% off by the case, mix or match unless already discounted via a special price or sale price.
