2006 Château La Bernadotte; Haut-Medoc, France

bernadotteWeb.jpgWe have sold this over-achieving Château's wine for many years and the 2006 continues the string of successful vintages we have been delighted to offer. Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande acquired Château Bernadotte in 1998 and May-Eliane de Lencquesaing and her team have made important investments not only in the château, winery and cellars but also in the vineyard. These improvements have resulted in wines which display class, elegance, ageability and a quality/price factor that should put them on every Bordeaux lover's short-list.

The 2006 is primarily a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a small amount of Petit Verdot. Typical right bank notes of licorice, roasted herbs, cedar, and ripe black currants give way to a medium-bodied, elegant palate exhibiting fine ripeness and some moderate tannins, suggesting a decant of 1-2 hours ahead of serving and/or a year or two in the cellar then enjoy through 2019.

$26.99 per bottle or $275.30/case $22.94
