This is a perennial BEST BUY for very good reasons. The price is right, in fact we really think that it is unbeatable for the rich quality that is in the bottle. Golden in color, the 2008 Alamos Chardonnay exhibits a fresh aromatic profile with ripe citrus fruit, layers of floral notes and a touch of vanilla. The mouthfeel is full, clean and crisp with pear, apple and a touch of grapefruit along with sweet oak spice. All this culminates into a bright, crisp finish with refreshing acidity and balance. This is a wine that you could spend twice the money on from other producers.
Harvest Notes:
Grapes for the 2008 Alamos Chardonnay were grown near the Mendoza River in the Luján de Cuyo area, as well as in the Uco Valley, where the highest vineyards in the region exist. With the coldest winter in 40 years, the vineyards of 2008 got off to a late start in the cool, wet spring. The rest of the season was warm and dry - a long period of very sunny days that developed great flavors and very cold nights that allowed the wines to rest and reach full maturity. Since an early frost had thinned the crop, the result was wine of great intensity and full flavors.
