2010 Martin Codax Albariño; Rias Baixas, Spain

Bodegas Martín Códax was founded in 1986 and was named after the most well known Galician troubadour whose medieval poems, the oldest of Galician-Portuguese language, are preserved. In the poems, the troubadour sings to love and to the sea of their coastline. A project that started with the dream and the efforts of a group of winegrowers is now a reality and it is this reality which has let Bodegas Martín Códax become a symbol of Galician wines inside or outside of their country.
From the beginning Martín Códax established a dialogue and a link with the Salnés’Valley society, where its winery is located. The winery was founded thanks to the idea of a group of winegrowers; as a winery made by people for the people. Set up by 270 members, the winery also relies on the collaboration of 300 families whose grapes are supplied to them via long-term  contracts. As a big family, they work together in order to ensure that their wines have the highest possible quality.

This vibrant wine is redolent with aromas of apple, lemon, kiwi fruit, ginger, and minerals. Displaying the additional richness of the fabulous 2010 vintage, this is dry, racy and crisp but exhibits a nice roundness as well as being amply fruited, finishing with a deliciously enticing spicy note. Excellent with seafood of all kinds, this wine is highly recommended with shellfish, as this wine hails from a classic region known for its fruits of the sea! Delicious with sushi and makes for a perfect aperitif!
