2009 Domaine du Tariquet "Classic"; VDP Côtes de Gascogne, France
Wine production at this domaine adheres to sustainable agriculture. To prevent oxidation the grapes are taken directly from the vines to the vats in isothermal tanks. The innovative "bottling to order" at Domaine du Tariquet guarantees consistent quality and freshness. The result of this meticulous process is a delicious, light and refreshing wine. With floral aromas, it displays citrus flavors with a touch of exotic fruit. This easy-drinking wine, is a perfect apéritif and great with seafood and shellfish. No picnic is complete without it.

2008 Fournier Sauvignon Blanc; VDP du Val de la Loire, France
From one of our favorite Sancerre producers, this is a great value for all Sauvignon Blanc lovers. The nose is fresh and fruit filled with classic floral, herb, and grapefruit nuances. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, pure and utterly delicious in a dry, yet fruit-driven way. This refreshing wine hails from some of the best regions for growing this grape and should pair well with a variety of fish and chicken dishes.

Special Tasting Price: $10.79 per bottle or $9.59 by the case

2009 Domaine des Soulié "Cuveé Rémy"; VDP Monts de la Grage, France
A beautiful blend of 80% Cinsault and 20% Syrah, this hails from the rugged hinterlands near the more famous appellation of Saint Chinian. This bistro- styled red offers lots of juicy, engaging fruit that offers a riot of red and black fruit notes. Framing these easy to drink and like flavors is a lovely spice component adding subtle brown spice as well as herbal notes to the party. This is a great medium-bodied red ideal for a picnic affair and or the many grilled foods of summer. Organically grown, this continues the string of high quality values arriving from the south of France
AWM Regular Price: $9.99 per bottle
Special Tasting Price: $8.99 per bottle or $7.99 by the case

This is a delicious, peppery, complex wine that will drink well for 3-4 years. Desiring to capture the full pleasures of his vineyard, Brunel bottles this wine without fining or filtration. This wine shows lots of the spice, roasted herb as well as the red and black fruit character of Châteauneuf du Pape only at a much more modest price!

Food News:

The 2010 fresh black truffle season down under has started.
In Western Australia, The Wine & Truffle Company began cultivation of French black truffles in 1997 at Hazel Hill Estate near Manjimup in the south west. This area was selected because the climatic and soil factors are similar to truffle producing areas in France and Italy. Over 13,000 trees were planted, making this the largest mainland trufferie in Australia. The property consists of 53 hectares (150 acres) The greater portion of the property is covered by 13,000 hazel and oak trees that have been inoculated with black truffle spores, making it the largest mainland trufferie in Australia.

In 2005 a truffle weighing over one kilo was harvested - which represents the biggest truffle found outside of France. In 2008 the total harvest of Black Tuber Melanosporum Truffle was just under 600kgs.

Our first order sold out immediately and we must say they were beautiful. Very aromatic and just textbook all the way. Since the season has just started they will be available for some time, so we are going to order them on demand. So call us by Saturday and we should be able to fill the order by the next Thursday. Most should be around the size of a big walnut, so amply big enough for a party of four. They will have been 36 hours out of the ground - so, exceedingly fresh!!!

Carib Lager; Trinidad
Carib Lager is the authentic, original, unique and defining icon of being young, modern and fashionable in Trinidad and Tobago. Launched on May 16th , 1950, this full bodied, clear and refreshing lager with 5.2% ABV is the flagship brand of Carib Brewery and the preferred brew of Trinidad and Tobago.
Carib Lager is deeply rooted in the way of life of the Caribbean people, the environment, and the distinctive and refreshing culture associated with the region - its Carnivals, music and sporting events. Kronenbourg 1664 Lager; Alsace, France It is back! Kronenbourg 1664, the premium lager of Brasseries Kronenbourg, which is located in Strasbourg France, has had a loyal following at The Asheville Wine Market. With a history dating back more than 300 years combined with a passion for brewing there is no wonder Kronenbourg 1664 is France's No.1 selling premium lager. Kronenbourg 1664 is made with a unique blend of hops including aromatic hops from Alsace. Its unique recipe is distinguished by the use of the aromatic Strisselspalt hop - the ‘caviar of hops' which sets it apart from other beers. The Strisselspalt hop has been exclusive to Alsace - the home of Kronenbourg 1664 - since 1885 and is a unique variety of French aromatic hops, giving the beer an unrivaled aroma and superior taste. It is a 5% ABV continental premium lager, more bitter than sweet, with a distinctive citrus flavor delicately reminiscent of grapefruit and above all this lager possesses a real drinkability that many of today's highly hopped beers lack.
