Four exciting and very affordable wines geared for warmer weather and the changing menus and activities that we all look forward to and enjoy. Two super refreshing and attractively fruited, dry whites as well as two easy-going, versatile reds geared for hot weather are on the menu. Join Tim Peters at the bar this Saturday for a look at four great Best Buy wines.
2008 Caposaldo Pinot Grigio; Veneto, Italy
The pure fragrance of this nicely fruited wine is filled with melon, pear and citrus nuances. A very refreshing palate of rich, well-delineated and well-balanced fruit makes this an ideal wine for party fare or a classic accompaniment to prosciutto and melon as well as pasta salads and light fowl dishes. This also works well with our local trout, whether it is smoked, baked or grilled. Lets eat!!!

2009 Bodegas Callia Alta Torrontes; Valle de Tulum - San Juan, Argentina
This benchmark Torrontes displays a fragrant bouquet of spring flowers, rose petal, honey, and tropical aromas. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate, it has ample fruit backed by vibrant acidity all leading to a lengthy finish. Drink it over the next 2 years with pork, seafood and spicy dishes - or just take it on a picnic or to the beach

2009 Caposaldo Chianti; Tuscany, Italy
This is a blend of mainly Sangiovese along with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malvasia sourced from the hilly provinces of Arezzo and Siena, where the clay, lime and schist soils are ideal for Sangiovese. The 2009 Chianti offers good vibrancy and freshness in its spicy red berries, with good length, and medium-body, found in its round, harmonious personality. It is a good choice for informal drinking over the next year or so. Pasta, pizza, and grilled fowl come to mind!

2009 Bodegas Callia Alta Malbec; Valle de Tulum - San Juan, Argentina
Bodegas Callia is situated in the Tulum Valley in Argentina’s province of San Juan at an altitude of 2,100 feet. We liked this wine for its fresh fruit-driven character, and the delicate tannic structure which will allow this wine to shine with everything from a rich pasta or pizza dish to any grilled meat dish. The enticing aromas of plums, cherries and spices lead into a palate that is medium-bodied, elegant and suave with a nice fruit-filled, lingering finish.
