A mix of new vintages and two wines that are not completely dry, make this a tasting not to miss. All four of these wines are very affordable, but most of all they are very engaging and easy to drink and enjoy. No wine snobbery here, just honest wines that anyone can enjoy and understand. Join Robert Braswell at the tasting bar this Saturday for a lively and fun tasting.
2008 Los Vascos Sauvignon Blanc; Valle Central, Chile Managed by the Domaines Barons de Rothschild, Los Vascos is one of Chile's oldest wine estates. This 2008 Sauvignon Blanc is light straw-colored with an expressive nose of fresh herbs and citrus. Ripe, balanced, and made in a round, pleasing style, this tasty Sauvignon should be enjoyed over the next 12-18 months. These vines are ungrafted and from pre-phylloxera Bordeaux rootstock, which many feel gives Chile's wines a certain edge over the competition. Try it yourself and see. Great with spicy dishes, shellfish, salads and seafood.

2007 J.M. Monmousseau Vouvray; Loire Valley, France 2007 was one of the most outstanding vintages in the Loire Valley in quite some time. This wine is glorious with its wonderful melange of crisp, delineated fruit aromas and flavors. Ripe, but so wonderfully balanced by the band of ripe acidity, this glides down the palate so easily. Just off-dry, this is great on its own and very versatile with food, especially spicy foods, curries, and any creamy or saffron based sauces.
