2011 Château des Cèdres – Outstanding Everyday Bordeaux Value
The total 35-hectare vineyard of Château des Cèdres is situated in Paillet in the heart of the 1eres Cotes de Bordeaux and Cadillac Appellations. With an incredible and unobstructed view of the Garonne Valley at more than 120 meters altitude, the 86 acre vineyard has an exceptional exposure, with limestone-clay and gravel soils offering superb natural drainage. The vines have been cultivated following sustainable agriculture practices for more than ten years, allowing Château des Cèdres to produce very expressive Red Bordeaux at affordable prices!
Ever humble, Serge Larroque the proprietor, will tell you that he does nothing special and that everything comes from the terroir. We are not so sure, as nothing comes by chance, and Serge is a very hard worker, taking great care to ensure quality!
You’ve got to try this if you are a Bordeaux fan. Consistently outstanding, this is yet another strong showing from one of our most price-worthy properties. Using only vines that are a minimum 15 years of age adds a measure of concentration usually found only in wines costing considerably more. Classic black cherry/cassis aromas and flavors that keep on coming, make this fleshy, moderately rich and medium-bodied wine very enjoyable now. The ’11 is yet another great offering from this undervalued property. –
This is one terrific value from Bordeaux that’s very accessible now and should drink well over the next several years.
