Cathy and Daniel Laffite use only native Mediterranean grape varieties, matched perfectly to their domaine’s soils, to make superb wines. This is a more Grenache-heavy blend that includes 20% Carignan, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. The 2012 Côtes du Roussillon “Cuvée Jean Pull” is a big, fruit-loaded effort that shows abundant charm and texture. Black cherry, licorice, roasted herbs, violets and distinct minerality all emerge from the glass and this medium to full-bodied beauty stays lively and fresh, with integrated acidity, chewy tannin and excellent length on the finish. It’s a serious value that will drink nicely for 4-6 years. Loves grilled foods.
