2013 Domaine des Soulié Rosé; Saint-Chinian, France

Domaine des Soulié, located near the village of Assignan, in Hérault, has a wine-making history dating to 1610, and has been farmed organically since 1968. With about 25 hectares under vine, Rémy works his property like a gardener keeping a watchful eye on his Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, and a small contingent of other grape plantings. With a dense planting scheme of around 4,000 vines per hectare, that’s a lot of vines to tend. Rémy’s skill as a winemaker allows him to turn his perfectly ripened grapes into delicate but full-flavored red wines, as well as a small quantity of delicious dry rosé. We were fortunate to snag enough of this little coral/pink beauty to offer it out as a spring special once again! This does sell out quickly and then its a long wait for the next vintage to roll around, so we suggest laying in a small cache to last over the hot summer months to come.

A beautiful blend of 80% Cinsault and 20% Syrah, this bistro-styled rosé is all about pretty cherries and strawberries on the nose. Fresh and vibrant red fruit flavors baste the tongue with pleasure, a nice cut cleans the palate,  making for a very food versatile bottle of classic dry rosé. All organically grown, our kudos to Remy Soulié for another tasty and affordable wine.
