2016 Dominio de Punctum "Finca Fabian" Verdejo - La Mancha, Spain
Dominio de Punctum is a family owned and operated business based in the town of Las Pedroñeras at the north end of La Mancha. Their Finca Fabian wines were an immediate standout for us during a buying trip to Europe years back and we've been fans ever since. They have more than 200 hectares under vine and their entire production is estate bottled. In addition, they are certified both Organic and Biodynamic. It's nearly impossible to find super reasonably priced wines like Finca Fabian that are also Organic!
Their delicious Verdejo is grown just east of Madrid in Cuenca, well outside of the Rueda, the usual home base of the grape. The area produces Verdejo that's lighter and more zippy, with just a hint of spritz. Tropical fruits and flowers open on the nose and introduce a palate of bright citrus and pear. Pair this light and fresh white with your favorite late summer fare and grab a case of this for your Labor Day party!

2016 Joel Gott Grenache Rosé - Central Coast, California
For us, Rosé season doesn't just suddenly grind to a halt at the end of the summer. We enjoy the Pink Drink all through the fall and winter. The 2016 Joel Gott 2016 Rosé is a terrific choice to carry you through into the cooler weather. While somewhat Provencal in color and style, this Rosé features a bigger hit of rich, lush fruit on the palate. The nose opens featuring notes of raspberry, strawberry, melon dancing around subtle floral notes of jasmine and rose petal. There's just enough of a bright lift of acidity to balance out the great fruit. Don't be afraid to pair this rich Rosé with heftier cool weather cuisine and it will still shine with fish and vegetarian fare. We love it with spicy Shrimp and Grits!

Bodegas Abanico Hazaña, Rioja Viñas Viejas, RIoja, Spain
This is a real gem of a find and for those that follow Robert Parker, he scored this a 92. Here's Parker's note on the wine:
The 2014 Hazana Vinas Viejas is simply one of the greatest values in Rioja that money can buy. A blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano, this collaboration between importer Eric Solomon and the owner and winemaker has produced an absolutely amazing Rioja from 45- to 70-year-old unirrigated, head-pruned vines. Loads of lead pencil shavings, black and red currants, licorice and tobacco leaf all jump from the glass of this dense, ruby/purple wine. Soft tannins, medium to full body and fabulous intensity, make for a sensational Rioja to drink over the next 5-7 years (Robert Parker)
