More best value wines from Europe. With the nice touch of Blackberry Winter this week, we’ve focused on a white with just a touch more weight and a couple of medium bodied reds for when you fire up the grill. Yes, of course there’s a Rosé as well…
La Bouysse Blanc, France: A cool kitchen sink blend of a white from the Corbiers. White fruits and floral notes lead to notes of white peach, pear and citrus
$12.99 per bottle, special sale price: $10.39
St Hilaire D’Ozilhan”Prestige” Rosé, France A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault from one of our favorite cooperatives in the South of France. It’s all about red berries! A super BBQ wine!
$11.99 per bottle, tasting price in a case: $9.99
Maestro del Pomidoro Italy: We love “The Tomato Man” with pasta, pizza and practically anything with red sauce. There’s a dollop of Cabernet blended in to give it just a little more oompf. Smooth but with a touch of earth that makes it unmistakably Italian!
$10.99 per bottle, today in a case: $8.79
Vina Borgia, Spain: A best buy here at the AWM for close to a decade. We trot it out at the Saturday tasting every now and then to remind folks that you don’t have to spend a ton of cash to enjoy wine. This perfect example of that idea features dark red and blue fruits with a nice spicy note of black pepper. A no brainer for this kind of money.
