Kerisac Cidre Bouché; Breton, France

kerisaclabelKerisac was founded in 1920 by Edmond Guillet and is located in the town of Guenrouët, in the Loire-Atlantique département (Brittany). The Guillet family combines tradition and modern technology to produce high quality cider. In 2001, they obtained the certification “Produced in Brittany” dedicated to promote the region of Brittany, its know-how and quality products.

The Guillet family uses only the best apples to achieve the perfect balance of sweet and sour tastes. The apples are harvested between September and December, and then left to ripen for 3 weeks. At this stage, the apples are pressed, filtered and bottled. The cider is then stored and maintained at a low temperature. The cider is produced from five types of apples: Kermerien (bitter), Bedan (sweet), Douce-Moën (bitter-sweet), Petit Jaune and Avrolles (acidulous).
This special cuvée is low in alcohol (only 2.5%).

This cider is redolent with complex aromas of apples and  apple skins with hints of yeasty bread notes. The taste is nice and crisp with lots of fresh apple notes and hints of toasted bread and apple skins on the finish. This is a well crafted artisanal cider that is simply delicious. Mouthfeel is lovely with a bit of sparkle but more of a frizzante than a full blown champagne style. At 2.5% ABV drink-ability is very high. We keep finding ourselves looking for the bottle to top off our glasses.
