Marie André
Bourgogne Chardonnay 2014
Côte-d’Or, France
This terrific Bourgogne Blanc from Marie-André is sourced from Chardonnay in vineyards both in the Côte d’Or and in the Mâconnaise. Selected plots from the Côte d’Or include the appellations of Meursault, Chassagne, St. Aubin, and Ladoix and the wines are aged in used 3-5 year old oak barrels originally from their Corton, Chassagne, and Ladoix properties. The gentle oak treatment showcases the complexity, richness, and minerality of this classic white Burgundy while maintaining perfect lift and freshness. The remaining Chardonnay is sourced from the Mâconnaise and aged in tank to feature the pure fruit and minerality of the wine. Stone fruits, quince, Lemon Custard and subtle vanilla spice greet from the nose and introduce a lemony notes on the rich but crisp palate. This is one of the best values in white Burgundy we can find, snag this one by the case!!
