2010 Palazzone Dubini Bianco; Umbria, Italy
This is a wine made by one of the top estates in the Orvieto Classico District of Umbria. Unique among white Italian wines for its complex blend of five varietals, it is not an easy wine to make due to differing ripening time tables and the problems of proportionate blending. But when well made it can be truly remarkable. This wine exhibits a lovely fresh nose of flowers and herbs as well as a slight nuance of dried honey. The palate is fresh, pure and full-flavored with a nice ripeness throughout. Classically dry, this wine shines with pasta salads, herb roasted chicken or seafood dishes and makes a great appetizer with prosciutto and melon.

2010 Les Petits Vignerons Blanc; Mont Baudile, France
A deliciously dry and amply fruited wine offering a complex flavor profile that only Grenache Blanc, Ugni Blanc and Rousanne can deliver. The ripe apple, apricot,  and white peach aromas and flavors are complemented by delicate nuances of the wild herbs that grow in this rugged Mediterranean coastal region. Rich exotic fruit balanced by just enough acidity make this a natural with summer salads, seafood of all types or just as an aperitif.

2010 Perazzeta Sangiovese “Sara”; Tuscany, Italy
Alessandro Bocci, owner and winemaker at Perazzeta, has fashioned a lovely bistro-style wine that is hard to resist. His wines, made in the DOC region of Montecucco, just south of Montalcino, exhibit power, tension, and reflect his unique terroir well. 90% Sangiovese and 10% Ciliegiolo combine brilliantly in this wine to yield bright cherry and red plum flavors that are carried across the palate by a ripe acidity and enhanced by tantalizing earth tones. A perfect wine for pasta dishes, herb roasted fowl or pork, and sensational with a crisp, wood-fired pizza. Their everyday wine, “Sara,” is named after his daughter – only 2,000 cases produced.

2010 Les Petits Vignerons Rouge; Mont Baudile, France
Born on the sunny slopes of the Mediterranean, this wine is rich in flavor and ready to drink now. Medium-bodied and fresh, with enticing pepper, spice, plum and cherry notes as well as a nice, cool, fruit-filled  finish. 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache provide the fruit for this engaging, silky, easy to drink, medium-bodied red. This producer continues to fashion well-made wines at reasonable prices and has been long singled out in France and the UK as a great source of affordable every-day wines.
